Homekeeper's Journal- The Autumn Edition

This week's Homekeeper's Journal is all about Autumn.

My first thought was "Fall? What's that?" :-) It's still pretty hot here that it's hard to imagine that in a month or so, it will start turning a little bit cooler.

Fall is my favorite season!

Autumn in my kitchen means... making applesauce and apple butter, eating lots of sweet potatoes and squash, more soups and warm crock pot meals.

Autumn in my home brings... our anniversary, leaves to rake.

I bring Autumn indoors by...decorating with pumpkins and gourds, switching out our wardrobes for warmer clothing, simmering apple cores and cinnamon sticks on the stove for a homey autumn smell.

A few favorite Autumn activities for my family are... watching football (Go Redskins!), going to the mountains for leaf-peeping, and visiting the orchard for fresh apples.

Two favorite Autumn recipes are... pumpkin bread and sausage and apple stuffed acorn squash.

This Autumn I would like to... go back to the mountains and celebrate the first day of fall by doing something fun for my neighbors.

What are your favorite things about fall?

**Thanks to Sylvia for hosting the Homekeeper's Journal!

Go REDSKINS!! I knew we had to have another thing in common.

Actually, I'm a wagon-jumper on that one. Scott is the Redskins fan... and I can't help myself but join in, in football hoopalu...although I have NOT a clue.

BTW!! Fall is my favorite season, too. Just reading your post is making me feel all Fall-cozy inside. Can't wait. ;)

Bevy,

Actually, I don't have a clue either... I hang around for the snacks! We have friends who are also Redskins fans so we often get together with them to watch games, which is always fun. We went to a Panthers/Redskins game last fall and that was really fun even though we lost. :( It was easier to follow the game in person than on TV, that's for sure.:-) We're hoping for a better season with the new coach this year!

Oh, I love the colors and the scents that go along with autumn. Up here in the Midwest, God's creation turns marvelous colors. We love to just take drives to see all the scenery ~ usually the first weekend of October it's beginning to peak in color. And I love all the yummy autumn meals ~ chili, soup, pumpkin bread/muffins, spiced tea.... Getting excited just thinking about it!

Your excitement is contagious!

Let's see, favorite things about fall...soup, pumpkin pie, the leaves changing colors and scattering in the wind (if only they would rake up themselves!)

September just feels like a new start for me, even more so than January. I guess I'm remembering the good old days when we didn't have to return to school until September. My son's in his second week back already which is just plain wrong :-)
