Freezing Fresh Lime Juice

I found a tray of organic limes on the marked-down shelf at the health food store a couple of weeks ago. 5 limes for 89 cents!

They looked so pretty in my fruit bowl, but it was a very busy week so I didn't get around to using them. To make use of the limes before they went bad(remember, no deal is a deal if you end up not using it!),I squeezed them and froze the juice in ice cube trays.

After freezing, I popped out the lime juice cubes, put them all in a ziploc bag and stuck them back in the freezer. About 3 cubes equal 1 lime, so I wrote that on the bag as well for when I'm using the fresh lime juice for a recipe. Just thaw how ever many you need and the fresh-squeezed juice is ready to use!

This can be done with lemons and limes and is so nice to have ready to pull out for recipes!

Great idea! I hadn't thought of freezing the juice. Several times I haven't used all the juice and wasn't sure what to do with it.

I was going to say what Wendi already did. So ditto. =)

This is WONDERFUL to know!!! I don't know how many bags of limes I've lost in the past because I couldn't use them all. I LOVE this!

I like the frozen juice idea. Thanks for sharing it!

I haven't been doing very well in keeping up with any blogs lately, so failed to see your post about hives till just now. About 7 years ago, I had some oral surgery done and was given Motrin 800 for pain. I woke the next morning with hives and was told to go to ER. I was given a shot, which helped but never totally cleared it up. Every 5th day I broke out with hives all over my body, and each time after (yet another) medication it would mostly clear up. Finally, on the 15th day, it got worse so that my lip started swelling (not a good sign!) and that time my Dr. gave a shot that was to last 6 weeks. And that took care of it, but I was told by the Drs. involved,(4 in all) that I dare not use Ibroprohin again, (which is what M.800 is-in a strong dose) for fear of a worse reaction. Those were a miserable 15 days!! Mine was caused by medication. Are they sure yours isn't? I wouldn't throw out the possiblilty. :} Hope you are soon all well again!
