A Peek At My Latest Project

I've been itching to try my hand at making a quilt with something other than plain squares or a basic nine patch. So I decided to make a smaller and probably simpler version of this Pinwheel Quilt for a dolly quilt for the kid's corner. One change I made right off the bat was cutting my own squares from my stash rather than buying the pre-cut Charm Packs called for in the "recipe".

I really have no experience with this, so time will tell how this project turns out! But so far it has been fun to work on. And the fabrics I chose from my scrap bags are bright and playful!

I'll share my progress as I go along.

Any tips and tricks for the novice quilter?:-)

Wendi,

I do these things in little bits of time in the evening or weekends usually. Many projects take several weeks(or longer) to complete because of this. :-)

I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out too!

Looks like you are doing a great job! All the points are so nicely matched.

I just made my first quilt, so I don't have any real tips for you except to read quilting blogs - as many tutorials as you can, especially the ones involving binding. Following those directions made my first quilt not look like a first time effort, if you get the drift!

Thank you, Eileen! I am not good with binding and wanted to learn to do it right with this project!

Hi Mary Ann, that's going to be one bright and beautiful quilt........lovely points, although I'm no expert as I've only recently made my first baby quilt.

I'm impressed that you're quilting! It's something I've always wanted to do. I want to make at least one quilt in my life. Looks like it's coming along really nicely and I like how cheerful it is!
