Very fitting For April Fool's day, today's Works For Me Wednesday is the Backwards Edition! I get to ask you a question and learn from all your wisdom!

My dilemma today is...

"How do you clean all the wax out of candle holders and jars?"

  1. Soak in hot water and then pick out with a knife if necessary.

  2. I've heard that sticking them in the freezer for a while will do the trick! Making the wax shrink=easier removal, I guess.

  3. Definitely put in the freezer. Works great, I do it all the time. The wax will harden and you can pop it right out or even dig it out a little with a butter knife! Good luck!

  4. I preheat the oven to 170 or so, and set the candlesticks and holders on a foil covered cookie sheet. Then I just use a paper towel to wipe out the melted wax.

  5. I have done both freezer and oven - freezer is fast and very easy! I'd recommend this way!!

If it is an odd shape that won't fit through the top even when frozen (like a canning jar) then I'd use the oven method.

  6. I have a steamer that I use and it works great. Just hold to steam and it remelts the wax and just wipe it up with paper towel.
